How did the GuidoMaggi brand originate?
Actually, my great-grandfather, GuidoMaggi, was an Italian shoemaker, so we have strong roots in traditional shoemaking. My great-grandfather even handcrafted footwear for the Royal House of Savoy.
I, along with other members of my family, have brought our family tradition back but with a twist. As well as focusing on comfort and quality, we have introduced another aspect to our designs to create a new type of footwear for the next generation.
We found that there were no other companies creating quality height increasing shoes, at least not any that were combining traditional Italian techniques with innovative designs. So when we found this gap in the market, we decided to focus our attention on delivering high quality, handcrafted shoes that can make you taller without compromising on style or comfort. And because all of our elevator shoes are made by hand in Italy, using the finest fabrics, we have now become a world renowned company.
We have two online stores, guidomaggi.it and guidomaggi.com for both Italy and the world, where you can purchase our handcrafted shoes in more than 90 countries.
As well as being made in Italy with the finest materials, an important aspect of GuidoMaggi shoes is the elevator heel. Tell us about this.
Well, like many inventions, it comes from personal experience. At the age of 20 I was modelling in Milan. However, the opportunity to walk on the runways was never given to me, as I was considered to be too short for this. I’m just under 5 foot 9, or 175cm. So when I was told that I wasn’t tall enough for the career that I wanted, I began looking for height increasing shoes, as I didn’t want my height to hold me back.
I bought many shoes but they didn’t seem to work. They were badly made, with low quality fabrics and mostly mass produced from Asia. Plus, they were not comfortable at all and weren’t very stylish. Not to mention, they also didn’t last very long and broke, revealing the hidden heel. So that’s when I thought, why can’t elevator shoes be trendy and comfortable?
Because of my own experience, I knew there must be lots of men who would want shoes that could increase their height in a discreet way but still maintain the style and quality of good, comfortable shoes. So that’s why we’re now able to create trendy elevator shoes, using the finest leathers and fabrics. Our shoes are completely handcrafted from start to finish, using traditional techniques such as patina processing and quality Goodyear seams.
To ensure high quality, durability and comfort I choose all the materials myself, including crocodile and python leathers, luxury Tuscan leather and the most innovative new materials to hit the market.
How do GuidoMaggi elevator shoes work?
The main thing about our elevator shoes is that the heel lift is totally hidden, so nobody will know it’s there, except you. Our shoes are orthopaedically tested so they’re good for your feet and your spine, even improving your posture. There are several benefits of wearing our elevator shoes but the main one is that your height and your confidence will be boosted. Other benefits are that they are designed for maximum comfort and they come in a range of luxury styles that are all handcrafted in Italy.
Why has GuidoMaggi had global success?
The reason our elevator shoes have been so successful is because of the high quality that we offer. Our shoes are not mass produced, so we’re able to focus on attention to detail and quality craftsmanship. We also use only the finest materials and genuine leathers to give you a shoe that’s built to last and comfortable. By handcrafting in Italy we are able to stay on top of the trends and create stylish, elegant designs.
