Guys just don’t receive the same guidance women enjoy, when it comes to body shapes and what looks best. And while some might argue that you should wear whatever you please, many of us want to know what styles are the most flattering.
Fashion brand Superdry understands that more and more men are now getting into fashion but just don’t know where to begin when it comes to purchasing investment pieces that always look good. That’s why they put together this informative graphic, detailing the common body shapes for guys – and giving them fun names, to rival the apples, pears and hourglasses women use – to offer some guidance when it comes to purchasing that winter jacket.
Who knew trapezoid body shapes worked best with a bomber or that a pea coat is ideal if you’re a guy who lifts, as you play down your shoulders? Check out the guide below and discover what works best on your frame before purchasing that new winter jacket.

Us men come in a huge range of shapes and sizes, yet many retailers do not seem to recognise this fact. As a result, buying men’s jumpers, and clothes, can be a bit of a headache. It is not always easy to find what you like in your size. Things are made worse by the fact that our modern lifestyle means that our body shape changes on a regular basis.
For example, if you have recently hit the gym, the chances are you will find it impossible to get your arms into the sleeves of the clothes and brands that you used to buy. A shirt or t-shirt may still fit you around the chest and waist, but if you cannot pull it over your new muscles, it is not much use to you.
If you have had a busy summer of stag dos, you are also likely to have problems finding clothes that fit. In all likelihood, you will find that your favourite brand of t-shirt now hangs awkwardly over your new beer belly.
As I said before, us guys come in all shapes, so it always surprises me that so many men’s clothes retailers still take the one-size fits all approach to men’s fashion. They typically offer one cut, which is designed to fit the mythical Mr Average. As a result, most of us are left going from shop to shop on a fruitless mission to find clothes that fit properly, as well as look good.
Thankfully, some retailers are finally seeing the light. Jacamo is one such brand; their range is huge and comes in an amazing array of sizes, and cuts. Their official size range is small to 5XL, with waist sizes of between 30 and 64 inches.
If you, are long in the body and short in the leg they still have you covered. Jacamo sells trousers, chinos and jeans in lengths of between 27 and 35 inches. This retailer’s boots and shoes are available in sizes 7 to 15, and 3 different widths.
They sell clothes that will fit practically every man, and are keen to spread the word about this fact. To help them to do this they are planning an innovative new advertising campaign.
Jacamo is currently looking for a ‘real’ man to become the face of its autumn/winter 2017 collection.
Unlike most other retailers, they are not necessarily looking for a tall man with perfect abs, and film star looks. Literally, any man can apply for the position. This is the case regardless of how tall, short, fat or thin they are. Applicants just need to be aged18 or over, and to be able to legally work in the UK to qualify for Jacamo’s Real Man Real Runway competition.
A representative of the company summed up the firm’s reasons for taking this innovative approach, by saying:
“Through this activity we will celebrate men of all shapes and sizes - exactly what Jacamo does. The search isn’t about finding someone who fits a particular model shape or look – our winner will be someone who represents the ‘real’ man who’s a natural in front of the camera and has a winning personality to boot.”
The competition closes at the end of October. As well as working with Jacamo to launch their autumn/winter 2017 collection, the winner will get a free introduction to Models 1, which is one of Europe’s premier modelling agencies.
