The Ultimate Fall Urban Style for Men (in 7 Tips)
Even though it may not feel like it yet in some parts of the country (with these high temperatures still making us feel summer is still here), fall has definitely begun. Sooner than we think, the temperatures will start dropping, days will become even shorter, and the evenings chillier. For almost all of us, fall also means leaving the relaxation and carelessness of vacation times behind, and getting into a more ‘back-in-business’ mood. Since we’re busybodies ourselves, we really don’t have a lot of space in our hearts for the end of summer nostalgia (a day or two of it are quite enough), and we’re really looking forward to all the great things yet to come with the beginning of fall.
This is why we’ve put together a little manual of urban style for the active young men in our audience, to be able to take fall on to the fullest and meet the challenges of a busy schedule flawlessly yet again. Dressing up for the part is not as easy as it may seem when you’re trying to juggle multiple aspects of life in a single day, like an office job and your dating life and also the occasional impromptu meeting with friends. It can get especially hard when you’re a guy, since most young men today really need all the help they can get when it comes to building their own style – probably because openly discussing it is still a bit more taboo for them than it is for the ladies.
Therefore, we’ve put together this fall style guide for men, suitable to most urban concerts, especially if you know you are prone to jump from one type of social context to another. A slightly classy urban style (a bit more casual than what is generally understood by ‘smart-casual’) is exactly what you need, and here’s how to pull it off effortlessly.
1. Get a couple of nice fall sweaters and wear them with shirts
Fall sweaters may be a bit of a cliché, but there’s a good reason for their popularity: they actually look great and are able to compliment almost any build and frame. You can be sure to never go wrong with your style if you choose V-neck light sweaters, worn with an underlying shirt (with a nice collar). Furthermore, the touch of class brought on by this combo will give you a free pass on the rest of your outfit (even the sportiest or ragged of jeans and trainers will do fine).

2. Carry your gadgets and papers around in a classy functional bag
A high quality functional bag in which you can carry around the gadgets and everything else you may need has become a necessity. If you’re not a teenager anymore, then you can’t just keep dragging that old sports backpack around and still hope it can pass as a suitable bag. Our advice is to go for something urban and relaxed enough, but made of a quality material and neutral tones, like this vintage canvas messenger bag here. It works great with any type of activity and event you may partake in, and looks classy without seeming like you tried.
3. Wear tucked sleeves
Another favorite of everyone is wearing your sleeves slightly tucked up. This can make your basic office outfit suddenly be more relaxed and cool, and even bring a touch of rebelliousness to it. Few things can be more attractive on a guy than a shirt with tucked up sleeves, a pair of glasses or sunglasses (more on those below) and cup of coffee in their hand, moving on from one moment of the day to another.
4. Try new colors for your shoes
This fall, make yourself this style resolution: ‘I will try to experiment more with shoe colors’. This is especially necessary if all of your shoes have been black or brown since as long as you can remember far back. We’re not telling you to jump straight to a super-bold color like red or purple, but a little navy blue or dark forest green never hurt anyone. Plus, colored shoes can really make you seem more elegant by default, even if you’re not making any effort to match them to the usual clothes that you’re wearing next to the fancy-colored shoes.

5. No need to leave the sunglasses behind yet
Summer may be gone, but your sunglasses don’t need to be gone as well. According to eye docs, the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays are still able to hurt your vision in any season of the year, so wearing them is encouraged and recommended. To that, we add that there are plenty of style reasons for it as well: a pair of well-chosen sunglasses can give almost anyone a sudden touch of sly and cool. Don’t deny it to yourself: just continue enjoying their careless and intriguing air. If you’re worried about appearing pretentious or unadjusted, just make sure you take them off whenever you get in an indoor place and all will be well.

6. Consider a bow tie or a Fedora hat
With these two suggestions, we’re definitely entering the big boys’ league of fashion, so we perfectly understand if you’re a more casual type of guy and decide to continue being reluctant to them. But let us just say this: a bow tie is such a cute and elegant accessory that you will stand out in any party you may attend wearing one; and we mean ‘stand out’ in a good way. The same goes for a Fedora hat, especially if you also have a bit of a rugged grown-out beard; you will look super-classy and manly at the same time.

7. An accessory or two can be your best friends
Besides the two more unusual accessories mentioned above (bow tie and hat), there are plenty of more common accessories you should consider, since they can seriously up your style without taking it out of casual territory. Think about a high-quality leather belt, for example, and even some vintage-style belt buckles. Also consider a cute and easily remarkable pendant necklace for men (we’re sure you already have a few favorites) worn over your casual urban outfits.
