Technology Meets Sandals

Rhea Footwear Launches Kickstarter Campaign to Introduce Men’s Sandals That Never Slip

You’ve experienced it. You bought a brand new pair of sandals for this summer. The strap falls apart after a week, or you constantly feel as if you are on an ice rink whenever you step on water. However, you accept this as a way of life, since all sandals are like that.

Rhea Footwear challenged this by integrating design with durability and technology. The Men’s collection Vepo is designed for comfort, and built to provide you with the greatest friction on any surface, including wet and slippery conditions.

The sandals use Rhea’s fully patented outsole technology. One of the videos on Rhea Footwear’s Kickstarter page demonstrates this technology against other sandals. The sandals are offered in four different colors – burgundy, navy, green, and black. The sandals also use a midsole cushion to provide extra comfort and a special fabric infused within the strap to provide extra strength.

“Currently there are no other sandals in the market that utilize this outsole technology. Sandals benefit so much from this technology because you are likely to step on wet and slippery surfaces while wearing them,” says CFO John Lee.

Rhea Footwear is launching this sandals campaign after a successful launch of its classic lines through Kickstarter last year.

Men’s Fashion At The Grand National Races

The 2015 Crabbies Grand National horse races are underway in England, and as always that means there’s about to be a great deal of fashion news related to the crowds at Aintree. Like many other major horse races, the Grand National inspires fans to dress up in fancy and sometimes whimsical attire to celebrate the occasion, and the event’s “Ladies Day” will undoubtedly make headlines showcasing the best of the best in spectator fashion.

The trouble is, all this attention is dedicated almost exclusively to the ladies! Yes, it’s called Ladies Day”and yes, female spectators tend to make a bigger deal about race day fashion. But the men at the Grand National tend to dress sharply too, This makes the event a great one to pay attention to for men looking for fashion inspiration.

With that in mind, here are five trends and looks for men to keep an eye out for in this week’s Grand National coverage.

Look For Colourful, Stylish Pants

At the end of March, Men’s Style Fashion was kind enough to produce a guide for what men should wear to the Grand National Ladies Day, and this was one of the most important points it mentioned: jeans and shorts just won’t do. As mentioned, the Grand National’s dress code tends to be formal but fun, and for that reason, brightly coloured chinos, corduroys, and dress trousers are recommended.

Brown Leather Rules The Day

That is, specifically with regard to footwear. Every now and then you’ll see someone at a horse race wearing a suit that simply only works with black shoes. But for the most part, brown leather shoes just fit the occasion better. Liverpool Echo’s 2014 guide to Ladies Day fashion shows a lot of men in brown shoes and demonstrates that they’re actually surprisingly versatile. They’re also a tad more rustic, which tends to be appropriate for outdoor competitions.

Look For Bowties & Pocket Squares

There’s a certain “preppy” nature associated with men’s race day attire, and as an article on style for men from Fashion at the Races points out, bowties and pocket squares probably have a lot to do with it. “Men of all ages… have embraced the little bow around their neck to bring their racing outfit to the next level,” the article claims, going on to explain, “many even match their bowties to their pocket squares.” That’s not to say an ordinary tie won’t do the trick, but a bowtie and pocket square combination suits the occasion.

Keep An Eye On Trainer Fashion

That’s rightsometimes even the horse trainers get into the action. You won’t find them wearing the boldest suits at the tracks, but in between training horses, trying to win races, and beating the odds, many of them seem to find time to dress up a bit. One of the busiest trainers at the Grand National year in and year out is Paul Nicholls, who in addition to training a number of prominent horses contributes regularly to Betfair’s tips and odds for major races, providing expert analysis to help the bettors. Yet even with training obligations and time spent on betting analysis, Nicholls is often seen in sharp, rustic suits and fashionable hats. It’s a fun element of the event to keep an eye on.

Tailored Suits Are On Display

Finally, bear in mind that no matter who you’re looking at”spectators or trainers alike ”the best-looking suits at the Grand National, or any major horse race for that matter, are tailor-fitted. Pinterest has a page on sharp-dressed men displaying horse racing fashion, and in looking through the suits you’ll notice a lot of slim fits and a lot of perfect proportions. These same trends will likely be on display at this week’s Grand National, as the stylish male spectators demonstrate the right way to wear a suit!

There you have it! These are the things to keep an eye on at this week’s races. Pay attention and you’ll soon notice race day fashion includes men as well as women.
